STONEHONEY
Good things happening in the Stonehoney camp. Our trip
out to Nashville turned into some magical good fortune
for us. Gram Parson’s daughter, Polly, saw us
at a house party in Austin, TX and went nuts! She brought
us to an amazing brunch at Eddie Wilson’s home
(the founder of the legendary Amadillo World Headquarters
and Thredgill’s restuaraunt) and put us in front
of all the folks who make that town so special. Not
only did we sell a ton of cds, we got set up for the
South by South West Festival a few weeks later.
Next came the Folk Alliance festival
in Memphis, TN. We were talked into attending this by
our dear friend Dan Navarro of Lowen & Navarro (they
wrote “We Belong” for Pat Bennitar) and
it couldn’t have gone any better. We were the
break-out group of the whole festival, playing 4, 5,
and 6 times a day. I caught myself still playing guitar
at 4:30 in the morning, three days in a row! This has
lead to some great national bookings for some serious
money. And all this before even arriving in Nashville...
SXSW was just incredible. We got to be
the first group to play the new stage at the legendary
Thredgill’s North store on one night, headline
the outdoor stage of Threadgill’s South the next
(right after Rocky Erickson and Billy Gibbons!) and
headline the north store on Saturday night with Earl
Poole Ball (Johhny Cash, The Byrds, Gram Parson, Merle
Haggard) sitting in on piano. What a night to remember!
Now we’re teaching Nashville how
to play some honest county music again. There are some
great management options coming our way and we have
a weekly gig at the Cadillac Ranch on Broadway. Check
