FOLKFEST
Sterling Stage, Central New York’s premier outdoor
music park, is proud to announce their 50th event, STERLING
STAGE FOLKFEST 2008 on May 23-25. Its being held at
Sterling Stage, 274 Kent Rd, Sterling NY 13156. This
will not only celebrate the proud history of this Oswego
County venue, but kick off a summer series that is unquestionably
the Stage’s best ever.
Sterling Stage is an old Christmas
tree farm that began hosting scheduled live music events
on Memorial Day Weekend 1995. In the past 13 years,
Sterling Stage has hosted 49 events which have included
Rock and Roll Hall of Famer’s, Grammy winners,
bluegrass legends, and legendary guitar heroes, along
with hundreds of regional and local musicians. Past
performers include Dickey Betts, Levon Helm, Garth Hudson,
Vassar Clements, New Riders of The Purple Sage, Donna
Jean Godchaux Band, Merl Saunders, Commander Cody and
Jonathon Edwards just to name a few.
Folkfest features Stage favorite’s
Ryan Montbleau Band on Friday Night, and The Breakfast
on Saturday night, each performing 2 long sets on the
main stage under the Groovin’ Lumens lightshow.
Friday’s (May 23) lineup includes
Stage veterans Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad, and new
friends Slow Natives and Zach Deputy. Saturday’s
(May 24) lineup includes The Sam Kininger Band, One-Eyed
Jack, The Second Class Citizens, Dark Hollow and Hot
Day at the Zoo. Sunday’s (May 25) schedule returns
many Stage favorites including The Buddhahood, The Rounders,
Natural Breakdown, and the Tim Herron Corporation. More
great acts are scheduled throughout the weekend on three
different stages.---
