ART EXHIBIT OPENING: Melanie Kimbler-Lago's "Why I Can't Sleep"

SLC Arts Gallery at Town Hall, 18 Elm Street, Potsdam

Opening night reception: Friday, May 22, 5-7 PM. The show runs from May 22-July 6.

A stunning exhibition of Kimbler-Lago's unique quilts. The artist uses a combination of photographs, bright colors, mixing fabric textures and painting with thread. For more information visit slcartscouncil.org or call 265-6860. Free and open to the public. Handicap accessible.

Introduction to Watercolors (2-part class)

Instructor: Michiko Taylor

Saturdays | May 23 & 30 | 10AM - noon

SLC arts, 41 Elm Street (Old Snell Hall), Potsdam

Members: $38 | Non-members: $48

A rare opportunity to be introduced to the art of watercolors by a very talented local painter! Students can be beginner or intermediate level painters. DAY 1: Students will draw from a still life for the first hour, then discuss how to mix color and how to use brushes. DAY 2: The class will finish their paintings and learn more about how watercolors work.
