Boy there just seemed to be a rash of bad news the past few months in country music with Jimi Westbrook of Little Big Town needing vocal cord surgery, Blake & Miranda divorcing then Reba and her husband of 26 years Narvel Blackstock calling it quits, Joey of Joey & Rory battling cancer again as well as Jake Owen divorcing. It was getting crazy, not sure if it was "Something in the Water" or just the summer heat! The news that Jana Kramer and her new husband were expecting was definitely some good news the county music community could use!

There has been some great country music in the North Country this summer. How many did you get to see? Starting it off was Kip Moore at Mountainfest, then Dwight Yoakam, Lee Ann Womack, Canaan Smith, Josh Turner, Craig Campbell and Lonestar all graced stages around the area. The summer definitely saw some awesome country music this year!

There are still some chances to catch some country acts right here in the North Country. In fact the Froggy 97 Private Listener Showcase this month features the up & coming band Two Way Crossing. Featuring married couple Jenny & Blake The Band has started making a splash in Nashville. Their latest single "Car Trouble" can be heard on Froggy97 and many other stations around the U.S. and is really garnering them some attention. The show in watertown is September 24th at the Savory Downtown but the only way to get tickets to see Two Way Crossing is by winning them on Froggy 97.

Thanks for checking out Dave's Country Corner. Each month I'll be writing about all things country out of Nashville and Canada too, there is some GREAT country music coming from across the border you should check out. Feel free to drop me a line at davewfry@yahoo.com and I've invite you to join me weekday afternoons from 3-7 pm on Froggy 97. Remember to keep it real & keep it country!
