POTSDAM - On Friday, October 16, SLC Arts will be opening a special exhibit at the Potsdam Town Hall. All of the artwork in the show has been donated by local artists, and sales from the "Art for Animals" show will benefit the Potsdam Humane Society. Over 40 artists donated artwork, and two-thirds of the artists are K-12 students from public schools around St. Lawrence County.

The opening reception runs from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, and the exhibit will be on display through October 28. "Some of the pieces were already sold before we finished hanging the exhibit," says Suzy McBroom, SLC Arts' Executive Director. "The students were so excited that many of them donated their pieces, then purchased them back just to benefit the Humane Society." Both the opening and the exhibit are free and open to the public, and the gallery is wheelchair accessible.

Work may be purchased by contacting SLC Arts, 315-265-6860, slcartscouncil.org. Proceeds from the sales of the artwork are split 70/30 between the Potsdam Humane Society and SLC Arts.
