The Fifth Annual "North Country Folk Festival" Canton, NY - is an all-day event, featuring eleven hours of music, from both local and nationally touring bands, a contra dance, dinner, and many local vendors and demonstrators. The Festival is a family-friendly celebration of folk music, folk arts, local living, and traditional skills of the North Country.

Coordinated by St. Lawrence University's Green House, the low-impact living theme cottage on campus, the Saturday, April 23 event is from noon until 11:00 p.m on campus at the Old Java Quad located directly across from the Brewer Book Store at 92 Park Street. The event is free and open to the public.

The annual community event features many local farmers, crafters, homesteaders, and demonstrators from noon to 6:00 p.m.. Event parking will be in the J-Lot, directly across from the athletic facilities on campus and a short walk to the outdoor venue. A campus map can be found at http://www.stlawu.edu/campus-map.

A favorite feature of the event is the Biergarten, a special area set aside that is hosted by St. Lawrence Brewery, where local refreshments will be available for for purchase by those over 21 years of age.

A free Contra Dance is part of the musical line up, from 2:15 to 3:45 p.m., with local favorite Beth Robinson as the caller with great fiddle jam music accompanying the traditional North Country dance.

A full dinner featuring a regionally themed menu is available at Dana Dining Hall from 5 to 8 p.m. for a cost of $11.25 per person. Local ingredients and regional specialties are featured on the menu as a delicious treat after attendees have worn in their dancing shoes.

The musical line up continues until 11 p.m. and includes Richard Hayes Phillips, 12:45-1:15; American String Circus, 1:30-2:00; Dyado, 4:00-4:45; Alpine Ghost, 5:00-5:45; Alex Smith, 6:00-7:00; Driftwood, 7:30-9:00; and the Mallet Brothers closing out the evening from 9:30-11:00.

American String Circus is one of the many bands performing at the fifth annual community celebration of the North Country Folk Festival, on Saturday, April 23 from 12:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. There will be live music, a Contra dance, regional foods dinner, and a Biergarten. Local vendors, crafters, farms and demonstrators. This free and family friendly is held at the St. Lawrence University Old Java Quad, across from the Brewer Book Store, 92 Park St., Canton, NY.
