Joe Satriani has released over 30 albums since 1984 including dozens of solo efforts, Several G3 Projects, toured as the lead guitarist for Deep Purple and in recent years played a major role as the lead guitarist of Chickenfoot with Sammy Hagar, Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers) and Michael Anthony (Van Halen).

His instrumental solo efforts still amaze to this day. Every release is unique from the previous. He doesn't need a vocalist his guitar paints the picture. Though on a personal note Living in a Blue Dream, his fourth full length album, Joe handled the vocal duties with no problem.

Joe Satriani's latest effort is "What Happens Next". Joe out did himself with this one bringing in Chad Smith on Drums and the legendary bassist Glen Hughes (Deep Purple / Black Country Communion). What you get is three of the most respected musicians in rock music performing at peak level.

Chad Smith drumming lays the beat with Glen Hughes driving the rhythm. They both hand in hand pave the way for Satirani's amazing guitar work. The first three songs Energy, Catbot and Thunder High are straight head rockers. Cherry Blossoms and Forever and Ever provide a change in pace from the all-out rockers, slowing the pace but not the back beat. Joe's guitar seems to sail on Righteous with some nice tempo changes.

My favorite song Head Rush gives you the full throttle effect. It like driving a car with the gas pedal all the way to the floor. All twelve tracks explore different avenues of rock, sometimes with funk sometimes with a mellow laid back groove, sometimes with a high level edge, all have one thing in common, a joy to listen to.

"What Happens Next" is a high level musical creation where three outstanding musicians are as one creating a rocking landscape for you to travel thru.

If you would like to see Joe Satriani Live. The current G3 Tour with Joe Satriani ,Phil Collen of Def Leppard and John Pettrucci of Dream Theater are touring thru 2018. The closest concert date for our area is Montreal on May 25th 2018.
