Uncle John's Radar - Castle Creek

CASTLE CREEK "The Only Life"

This powerful Duo hails from the heart of Central New York. This is CD is their first full length studio project featuring 12 tracks with lyrics and music by Kim Monroe and Chris Eves, better known as CASTLE CREEK. 'New Reality was co-written by Mark Doyle. For those of you who love the musical edge of the Tedeschi Trucks bands and the Black Crowes throw in some Grace Potter and you have the great sounds of this up & coming act in the Blues rock vein! Young and Fresh this act and their material will sooth your soul! Make sure to pick up the CD and catch them as they tour through your town in support of this great debut release of "The Only Life"!

UMPHREY'S McGEE 'The London Session".

I encourage all of you Jam Band and Umphrey's McGee fans to add this incredible studio project to your listening library. These 10 tracks were recorded at the world famous recording studios of Abbey Road at Studio 2 in only a single day!

Asked what do you do if given a mere 12 hours in an iconic studio? You make the best of it. And that's exactly what happened!!When it comes to a normal record it takes months to track an album at a minimum! So the group decided to take the opportunity to lay down a mix of new and old material, but using material that was all familiar from their live shows. With the release of 'Similar Skin" less than 10 months ago they decided to record "Cut The Cable" & " No Diablo" acoustically! Also seeing that "Bad Friday" proved to be another song destined for this session since it's debut on 12/31/13. "Gory" also received a minor makeover with the only added addition was a new bridge to the song. Note also that the Studio 2 with it's near perfect acoustics of the room allowed to use ambient room microphones so the drum sounds are heavy on organics and light on the processing!

The project was laid out into two groups seeing the order of the day was 'LIVE"! The first six tracks( Bad Friday, Rocker Part 2, No Diablo, Cut The Cable, Out Of Order, and Glory) were approached as laying down five to eight tracks of each to ensure they got a keeper. Then they tackled the last 4 tracks ( Plunger, Comma Later, Eat & I Want You (She's So Heavy) as a mini set, a single tack, start to finish, and nothing more! What you hear is what went down!! The last track that was recorded 'She's So Heavy" was recorded for pure fun at they did not anticipate putting it on the CD. But channeling some magic from the studio I am so glad they did!!

The only portion of "The London Sessions" not tracked at Abbey Road are the vocal tracks. It was incredible to have these musical tracks all done in a 12 hour session, so to have the other 8 vocal tracks also down would have been an impossible feat even for UMPHREY'S McGEE to pull off! The vocal tracks were completed after the fact at The Attic (Chicago) and Foreward Recording (LA).

"The London Session" sums up one day in the studio of Abbey Road with Umphrey's McGee in the world's most iconic studio. Acoustic arrangements, new versions of set list regulars and a first cover ever tom grace a UM studio project are all fused together in this amazing 12 hour session with the spirit of Abbey Road.

This 9 song CD was recorded in Boston, MA at Hollow Body Studios. This is JEREMY GILCHRIST's first full scale production with Doug Kwartler as a singer/songwriter based in Winooski, Vermont. His music is rich with emotion, and threaded with meaning, often woven into numerous layers. I find that this CD captures the purity of Jeremy's live performances. Jeremy always delivers with his powerful lyrics as he takes you on his journey that reveals his raw and powerful storytelling. These songs shine brightly for this up and coming folk/pop artists. JORDAN OKREND "World Keeps Turnin"

Born in NYC raised in Raleigh, NC and now calling home Purchase NY. Jordan is an inspiring singer/songwriter/performer that hits his mark with this EP release! Recently selected by Reverbnation to perform at the Move Music Festival in Albany NY on April 25th! I recommend you get out and catch Jordan live and pick up this heartfelt EP because The World Keeps Turning ..Anyway! I felt a great spiritual vibe to the title song that reflected a bit of Michael Franti vibe with a touch of Ben Harper. For those that follow Lenny Kravitz with a touch of Ed Sheerin this EP 6 song EP is a must!! I was fortunate enough to have Jordan perform for me at a very young tender age and I knew then he was destined for stardom!!

PI JACOBS "Hi-Rise Ranch"

Los Angeles singer/songwriter PI JACOBS grew up in San Francisco and spent 2 years in NYC before landing in LA. This chosen path reflects on the what is summed up as the America Bluesy thing!"Hi-Rise Ranch" is her sixth release and is a portrait to an artist in touch with her urban roots. Eugene Toale produced this CD and is known for his producing of Kanye West and Beastie Boys drummer Fredo Ortiz. Reflecting on recent separation from the man she loves tells the tales of touring the country on the road and missing the desire of the miles between them. As Pi states " I finally understood what real longing was"!

PI JACOBS is the singer you've probably heard, even if you haven't heard of her! With over 50 Song placements in televisionand film, Pi's music has been heard on MTV, Oxygen, Nickelodeon ABC Family, and several independent films.Payne of the LA WEEKLY wrote of Pi:

" She writes memorable tunes, and she sings them with a satisfying alto sweetness that's free of "singerly" gimmickery" and FLAVORPILL LA states:"Pi's powerful, low-slung, achey-breaky, wistful vocals charm in a strange, been-around-the-block, but still innocent kind of way".
