JULY'S FESTIVAL ROUNDUP

This July promises to be bursting with some super outstanding concerts and other stellar events happening in and around our spectacular North Country. From picturesque Lake Placid to the almighty Oswegatchie Delta, music festivals and other gala proceedings abound. So pack your gear (there's even some riverside tent camping offered) and your industrial-strength bug spray and prepare to party-hearty in the great northern frontier.

SONGS AT MIRROR LAKE MUSIC SERIES

Situated on beautiful Lake Placid in Mid's Park on Main Street, Lake Placid, New York, The Pine's Inn presents a wallop of a line-up in their historic state-of-the-art pavilion on the lake. This promises to be an amazing concert experience come rain or come shine. Come early, stay late!

Their music has been featured in block-buster films such as Ice Age, Twister and Matilda, and award-winning TV shows like New Girl, Ally McBeal, Charmed and Chuck as well as a series of Enterprise Rent-A-Car national commercials. Their mesmerizing live performances have found them touring alongside international sensations Santana, Dave Matthews Band, The Allman Brothers Band, Robert Plant and Jimmy Page's reunion tour among numerous others.

Formally branded as Enter the Haggis, The Band Jubilee Riots have released a staggering seven studio albums and have toured internationally. They have been featured artists on such syndicated TV talk shows as Live with Regis and Kelly and A&E's Breakfast with the arts, as well as being featured in an upcoming concert/documentary airing on PBS.

Hailing from New Orleans, Louisiana, (La Nouvelle-Orléans) The Dirty Dozen Brass Band is all hard-hitting glistening brass. Established in 1977 by Benny Jones together with members of the Tornado Brass Band, The Dirty Dozen revolutionized the New Orleans brass band flair by infusing funk and bebop into the traditional New Orleans Jazz style. This unique sound-blend has been a major influence on the New Orleans brass bands scene ever since.

The 1913 Centennial Park was recognized as early as 1866 as a special plot of land to be set aside to honor all the military personnel who had fought and died in the War of 1812. In 1878 the land was called the Old Battle Ground and was used for patriotic meetings, political rallies, church picnics, and other events.

48th Annual Potsdam Summer Festival

July 9-11

Signaling the official start to summer in the North Country, sponsored by the Potsdam Chamber of Commerce, the 48th Annual Potsdam Summer Festival runs concurrent with Alumni weekend for both SUNY Potsdam and Clarkson University. The local community comes together every year for three days of arts, music, and entertainment. The gorgeous downtown Historic District is cordoned off to provide a safe environment for families and visitors alike to enjoy live music, vendors, food trucks, craft fairs, sidewalk sales and many other special events.
