Gord Bamford

Can you believe it's already been a month that the kids have been back to school and we've been adjusting to fall temperatures? In fact, just a few weeks ago the Canadian Country Music Association held it's yearly awards in Halifax, Nova Scotia. There were some amazing performances by some of Canada's biggest country stars and the big winner of the night was Gord Bamford. Not only did Gord score the Male Artist of the Year award but he also picked up Single of the Year for "Where A Farm Used To Be". The song also nabbed him Songwriter of the Year along with co-writers Buddy Owens and Phil O'Donnell. I'd say Gord was one happy fella at the end of the night. Someone else who was happy was Jess Moskaluke who picked up a second straight Female Artist of the Year award. Other big winners included Dallas Smith who picked up Album of the Year for his amazing album "Lifted", High Valley was named Group/Duo of the Year, Madeline Merlo was named Rising Star while Brett Kissel picked up Interactive Artist/Group of the Year.

The fall is bringing something us something good besides changing leaves, pumpkin flavored everything and apple cider. GRAMMY award winning Little Big Town is getting back on the road after a summer lay-off so Jimi Westbrook could have vocal cord surgery, which went very well. Jimi, Karen, Phillip & Kimberly are eager to get back on the road and the first of their 17 stops begins on the 8th in Bemidji, MN. LBT fans are glad to see them get back on the road!

Froggy 97 is bringing another great Private Listener Showcase to watertown. Coming to the Savory Downtown on the 15th is Canadian country artist Bobby Wills. Bobby has a handful of hits across the border and is starting to make some noise in Nashville. Don't miss out on what will be an amazing night. Listen to Froggy 97 to see how you can win tickets for this showcase. Also looking ahead Dean Brody & Paul Brandt's Round Trip Tour, along with Jess Moskaluke, will be making a stop in Kingston at the KRC on the 18th. Be sure to get your tickets, it's going to sell fast and be a heck of a show!

There is plenty of great new country music coming out for you to add to your collection. Coming up on the 9th Jana Kramer Thirty One along with Toby Keith 35 mph Town will both be available. Then later in the month on the 23rd you'll be able to grab Blake Shelton Reloaded 20 #1 Hits along with the new Carrie Underwood album Storyteller

Thanks for checking out Dave's Country Corner. Each month I'll be writing about all things country out of Nashville and Canada too, there is some GREAT country music coming from across the border you should check out. Feel free to drop me a line at and I've invite you to join me weekday afternoons from 3-7 pm on Froggy 97. Remember to keep it real & keep it country!
