Its awards time in the music world and country music is no different. Kicking things off first are the49th CMA awards on Nov. 4 with Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood returning to host. The chemistry between the two of them will keep the night moving along as will some excellent performances that are lined up. I'm looking forward to Eric Church with Hank Williams Jr. along with Keith Urban and John Mellencamp. There are sure to be some other stellar live performances that weren't expected, which is always a treat. I really don't expect too many surprises when it comes to the awards themselves though. All in all it should be a fun show and I'll be tuned in enjoying the festivities from "Country Music's Biggest Night" as always!

Then it's on to the American Music Awards on Nov. 22 where Luke Bryan is the lone country artist up for Artist of the year. There are a few country artists nominated in non-country categories so it'll be interesting to see if any of them are able to make a dent and sneak in an award. If anyone can it may be Luke Bryan. It's not one of my favorite music awards but I do like to see what country artists pick up awards at this one.

As the holiday season approaches one of most enjoyable activities is seeing some of your favorite country artists out on tour with Christmas tours! Mixing in their hits with seasonal favorites is a treat the whole family can enjoy and this year is no exception. With numerous artists planning Christmas tours, LeAnn Rimes, the Oak Ridge Boys and Kenny Rogers will all be out on the road so keep your eyes and ears open to see if they may be stopping near your town! I'm personally looking forward to seeing Kenny Rogers before he retires from touring!

Thanks for checking out Dave's Country Corner. Each month I'll be writing about all things country out of Nashville. Feel free to drop me a line at and I invite you to join me weekday afternoons from 2-6 pm on 106 KIX, you can listen online Remember to keep it real & keep it country!
