High Valley

First I want to wish everyone a very happy & prosperous 2017 ahead. May the year ahead be a wonderful one and may it be blessed!

One thing that we saw in 2016 was High Valley (Brad & Curtis Rempel) sign a deal with Warner Brothers Nashville to bring their bluegrass tinged country sound stateside from Canada. The duo, from Alberta, notched numerous hits on the Canadian Country charts over the past 4 years. As they made the move here they smartly issued the single "Make You Mine" which Ricky Skaggs collaborated with them on. The song was Top 5 in Canada and is continuing the climb the country charts in the U.S .; it's a fun upbeat song that stands out on the radio. They released their first Atlantic/Warner Bros. Nashville album Dear Life in November and have been making the rounds including a stop on the Today show and just had a special in Audience Network that introduced them to more country music fans. If you haven't heard them yet, take some time to check out their music. I've been a fan since I heard "County Line" and have explored their music more in depth; they are worth the time and energy!

Coy Bowles of the Zac Brown Band is an accomplished author of children's books and has a new one out this month. When he's not touring with ZBB and playing guitar, keyboards or the Dobro he's keeping busy writing fun books for the kids. Hitting store shelves on January 10 is When You're Feeling Sick. It's a comedic take about helping kids deal with those days they don't feel so great, it's actually Coy's third book for children. It's a follow-up to Will Powers: Where There's a Will There's a Way and Amy Giggles: Laugh Out Loud. Coy has even tied in his music for this book as you can download or stream two songs having to do with this new book. "The Sun Shines Every Day" and "The Sickness Song" are available free at

One of the fun things between Christmas and early into the New Year are the College Bowl games. Dierks Bentley is joining in on the fun at the College Football Playoff National Championship. Dierks will headline the Championship Tailgate on January 9 in Tampa, Florida. After that Dierks will kick of his What The Hell World Tour 2017 in Dayton, Ohio on the 19th bringing along Cole Swindell and Jon Pardi as his openers.

A reminder that Season 5 of Nashville kicks off on the 5th on a new network, CMT. After each episode has aired it will also be available on and Hulu for viewing. With new show runners behind it this season it sounds like it will be a great season focused on the music and storylines related to the show should be improved as well.

Let's take a look at some new music headed our way this month. January 13 – The Infamous Stringdusters; Laws of Gravity & Jeannie Seely; Written In Song, January 27 – Brantley Gilbert; The Devil Don't Sleep & Lauren Alaina; The Road Less Traveled.
