DIY Plattsburgh

This spring, DIY Plattsburgh and the Monopole are joining forces to bring two new Thursday night concert series to downtown Plattsburgh. "New Sounds" and "Deconstruction" are alternating Thursday night events focusing on new underground sounds, bringing a spotlight to acts working to establish themselves in the Plattsburgh music scene. Doors open at 8:00 pm, with music starting around 9:00 pm, upstairs at the historic Monopole bar, downtown Plattsburgh's oldest continuing commercial establishment. All concerts are free admission to patrons ages twenty one and over. Local bands will be sharing the stage with touring acts from Burlington, Glens Falls, Lyon Mountain, and beyond.

Originally opened in 1898, the Monopole has been home to many bands over the years. Organizer Matt Hall of DIY Plattsburgh is excited to carry on this tradition with the new Thursday night concert series. "Monopole is a real staple business of downtown Plattsburgh, and it's great to be able to bring new acts onto the stage here and mix things up," says Hall. "New Sounds" will bring a mix of folk, pop, and rock music, while "Deconstruction" showcases punk rock, heavy metal, and experimental artists. Hall says that "the idea is to offer something totally different each week, and hopefully introduce folks to something they may not have heard otherwise".

DIY Plattsburgh is an online resource for local musicians and artists. For a full concert schedule and further details, people can visit bands and artists interested in getting involved with future concerts are encouraged to reach out to DIY Plattsburgh.
